A beautifully unusual Black Watch tartan Regency hair adornment, combining rich Scottish tartan with elegant trailing ribbons, black lace and a sparkling jet crystal centre.
The Highland Belle is part of my collection of unusual historical and Regency-inspired hair accessories, inspired by the elaborate ribbons, textile embellishments and richly decorated hairstyles of the Regency period, with a darker Scottish and gothic influence.
Black Watch tartan is gathered into a pretty ruffle and layered over a larger ruffle of black lace.
At the centre is a cluster of shimmering jet black glass crystals, adding a subtle touch of dark sparkle.
Long trailing ribbons in coordinating black satin and Black Watch tartan flow from the hairpiece, creating an elegant elongated silhouette reminiscent of the decorative ribbons and textile adornments worn in Regency hairstyles.
The Highland Belle is attached to a small 46mm hair clip, making it easy to secure into an updo, bun or swept-back hairstyle. I particularly love it worn towards the side or back of the head, allowing the ribbons to fall naturally through the hair.
